Stephon A. Woodward, 59, of Spotsylvania, was tased and arrested after making a run for it from a Wawa on Tidewater Trail on Friday, March 7, according to the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say Woodward tried to sneak out with $7.07 worth of snacks before fleeing the store and hopping on a FRED Bus.

Woodward's bus was tracked by investigators and followed until Woodward jumped off and ran into a nearby Hardee’s, where he tried to hide.

A deputy moved in to make an arrest, but Woodward refused to cooperate, pulled away, and resisted commands, officials said.

After repeated warnings, the deputy used OC spray and deployed a taser, but Woodward kept fighting until additional deputies and Fredericksburg police arrived to take him into custody.

Once he was searched, deputies found $20 in his pocket—which could have covered his stolen Wawa feast nearly three times over.

To make matters worse, investigators discovered Woodward was already wanted on felony probation violations out of another jurisdiction.

He was transported to a hospital for treatment due to exposure to OC spray and the taser before being booked on shoplifting, obstruction of justice, and providing false ID to law enforcement charges.
